When may my child return to school?

New Hanover County Schools has a lice policy, but each school really determines their own practice. Consult with your school nurse or principal. It is our opinion that if a person has started treatment, addresses the home environment, and counsels the child about lice-preventive behavior at school, then a child is best served by keeping them in school. Getting rid of lice is a process that takes time. The important thing is to focus on the head and keep up with the treatment plan.
